Benefits
-
How we move is critical to our well-being. Subluxations occur where articulating bones are no longer moving as independently as they should be. And it is the chiropractors job to break that fixation and restore biomechanics and neurological function.
-
This is your body’s positional awareness of all of its parts in space. This is how you are able to touch your nose with your eyes closed. With the subluxation complex, your proprioceptive feedback decreases. By restoring proprioception, you move more efficiently with better biomechanics.
-
What we as chiropractors do does not directly relieve you from pain. Rather, as healers, we restore the proper internal environment of the body, by communicating with the nervous system, to allow it to be able to heal itself as best as it can.
Adjustments
Chiropractic adjustments help your nervous system work better, improve movement, and support body awareness. This helps your body build healthier tissues, making muscles, joints, and nerves stronger and more resilient — leading to better circulation, nerve function, and overall mobility.
“Chiropractic is not designed to make you instantly feel better. It is designed to make you heal better.”
What Occurs with the Chiropractic Adjustment?
Paraphysiologic Space:
This is the small, safe zone just beyond normal passive motion. Chiropractic adjustments briefly move joints into this space to stimulate healing, improve motion, and reduce stiffness. Mild soreness afterward can be normal.
Passive Range of Motion:
This is how far a joint moves when someone else moves it for you — showing the limits of your ligaments and joint structures.
Active Range of Motion:
This is how far you can move on your own using your muscles.
Injury Zone:
This happens when forces push a joint too far — like sports injuries or car accidents — causing tissue damage.
Some professionals want to work on therapeutic exercises because “the muscle isn’t firing properly” as if the muscle has a mind of its own. The problem with that model is this: it’s a lack of knowing what sends the signal to your muscle to fire in the first place…. YOUR NERVES. If there is a subluxation in the spine, that chokes the power being sent to that specific muscle, so of course it won’t fire properly. The chiropractic adjustment addresses that.
A subluxation refers to the poor biomechanics of bones that make up a joint and result in compressing on a nerve which disrupts the signal being relayed. Your body is not optimally communicating with itself. This puts you in a state of dis-ease (without ease) — not to be confused with disease.
